To those poets thinking of coming : We suggest poets apply to Arts Council for funding. They have funded poets to come for past editions.
(But they won't fund Poetry on the Lake - "no wide British public". No, surprisingly, not in Italy! Yet we have so many hundreds of UK contacts)
Nearest airport Milan Malpensa (landing at other airports - Milan Linate, Orio al Serio Bergamo - take shuttle bus to Milan central Stazion and see trains below (note not many to Orta and not late evening).
From Malpensa only way viable is taxi. For trusty cabbies, please contact poetry on the lake, then contact cabby with flight number, departure airport, estimated arrival time, mobile number.

TO ORTA SAN GIULIO
ROAD: Autostrada dei laghi, Arona exit, turn immediately left and follow signposts. Orta centre is pedestrian only, there are large pay carparks on the hill. After turning left at Orta roundabout, follow the road right to carparks.

BY RAIL to ORTA
Buy a ticket at Milan Stazione Centrale for ORTA-MIASINO Take the Torino P.N. PN = Porta Nuova) train (usually platforms 3-6) that runs generally about 15+ mins past each hour.. Alight at the third stop (NOVARA on the hour, change to Domodossola line (usually platforms 6-9); When you see the lake on your left, alight at Orta- Miasino station(journey takes roughly 50 mins).Walk downhill (25 mins, straight on at roundabout then left at turning at Moresque Villa Crespi or book a taxi beforehand.
