I suggest poets wishing to come bang on the doors of the Arts Council. In all previous years they have funded poets to come to the Celebration BUT the dear people won't fund the festival. Three times I've tried and three times the reply has come 'no benefit to wide British public'. Well, no - the public in Italy isn't widely British, I suppose. But surely considerations such as the promotion of British culture and culture generally , the merits of intercultural exchange and benefits of networking etc, should carry a little weight? Alas... But who cares about the finances when there are poets around! We look forward to seeing you here 10th-12th October.
